Expert Engineering Consulting for

Flood Modelling

Hyperon has been providing Flood Modelling Services for Temporary Works to the M80 Ring Road Alliance Team. Hyperon has developed a risk-based flood modelling approach for Temporary works in discussion with the Alliance Team and MRPV.

A combination 12D and Tuflow models have been used to map afflux and hazards from proposed development. Mitigation measures proposed and verified in accordance with Project requirements.

Flood Assessments

This risk-based flood assessment and flood modelling approach provides a robust framework for construction work to proceed while adhering to the guidelines and requirements of all stakeholders.

Hyperon with its partner Engeny has been using 12D and Tuflow software for drainage assessments and Flood Modelling analysis.

Floodplain Risk Management

Hyperon provides comprehensive floodplain risk management services designed to support construction projects, particularly temporary works.

By employing a risk-based flood modelling approach, Hyperon ensures that construction activities comply with the requirements of key stakeholders, including the M80 Ring Road Alliance Team, MRPV, and Melbourne Water.

This approach offers a structured framework to assess potential flood risks and implement effective management strategies. The use of advanced software tools such as 12D and Tuflow allows Hyperon to simulate various flood scenarios, enabling the identification of potential impacts and the development of mitigation measures.

This service is crucial for maintaining the safety and integrity of construction sites while minimising disruptions caused by flooding events.

Flood Impact Assessment

Flood impact assessment is a critical component of Hyperon’s flood modelling services. This involves analysing the potential effects of flooding on both the construction site and surrounding areas.

By conducting detailed assessments, Hyperon can identify vulnerable locations and predict the extent of flood impacts under different scenarios. This information is vital for planning and implementing appropriate flood mitigation measures. The assessments are tailored to meet the specific needs of each project, ensuring that all potential flood risks are addressed comprehensively.

The collaborative approach with stakeholders ensures that the assessments align with regulatory requirements and community expectations, thereby facilitating smoother project execution.

Hydrology and Hydraulic Assessments

Hydrology and hydraulic assessments form the backbone of Hyperon’s flood modelling services. These assessments involve the detailed study of water flow patterns, rainfall-runoff relationships, and the behaviour of water bodies during flood events.

By utilising state-of-the-art software like 12D and Tuflow, Hyperon can create accurate models that simulate the hydrological and hydraulic conditions of a site. These models help in understanding the complex interactions between various hydrological factors and their impact on flood behaviour.

The insights gained from these assessments are instrumental in designing effective flood mitigation strategies and ensuring the resilience of temporary works against potential flood events.

Flood Mitigation Assessments

Hyperon’s flood mitigation assessments are focused on identifying and evaluating strategies to reduce the impact of flooding on construction sites and surrounding areas.

This service involves the design and assessment of various flood mitigation measures, such as levees, floodwalls, and detention basins. Hyperon works closely with its partner Engeny to ensure that these measures are not only effective but also cost-efficient and environmentally sustainable. The assessments take into account the unique characteristics of each site, as well as the specific requirements of the project stakeholders.

By providing tailored flood mitigation solutions, Hyperon helps ensure the safety and success of construction projects in flood-prone areas.

2D and 1D Flood Modelling

Hyperon specialises in both 2D and 1D flood modelling to provide a detailed understanding of flood behaviour in different environments. 2D modelling offers a comprehensive view of flood dynamics across a wide area, capturing the complex interactions between water flow and topography.

This is particularly useful for assessing the impact of flooding on large construction sites and surrounding communities.

On the other hand, 1D modelling focuses on linear water flow patterns, making it ideal for analysing the behaviour of rivers, channels, and drainage systems. By combining both 2D and 1D modelling techniques, Hyperon can provide a holistic analysis of flood risks and develop effective mitigation strategies that address the unique challenges of each project.

Assessment and Design of Hydraulic Structures

The assessment and design of hydraulic structures are integral to Hyperon’s flood modelling services. This includes the analysis and design of bridges, channels, culverts, sedimentation ponds, and erosion control measures. These structures play a crucial role in managing water flow and mitigating flood risks in construction areas.

Hyperon’s expertise in hydraulic engineering ensures that these structures are designed to withstand the specific flood conditions of each site. The use of advanced modelling tools allows for precise simulations of water flow through these structures, enabling the optimisation of their design and performance.

By providing robust and reliable hydraulic solutions, Hyperon contributes to the overall resilience and safety of construction projects against flood-related challenges.
